Dr Sophie Carter
MBBS (Hons), FRACGP, Dip Child Health
Sophie’s formal qualifications are as impressive as her wide-ranging clinical experience.
After graduating from medicine at Monash University in 2011, she spent four years working with Alfred Health and its affiliated hospitals. It’s here she practised adult internal medicine; the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic and short-term conditions mostly seen in adults.
Sophie has also completed a Diploma of Child Health from Sydney University. This extra paediatrics training complements her prior experience treating children and young people.
Sophie is experienced in managing the care of people living with HIV and hepatitis B & C. She’s the clinic’s resident HIV s100 prescriber; permitted to prescribe highly specialised HIV medication.
Sophie loves helping patients from diverse backgrounds, sexualities and genders. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, including:
- Women’s health
- Chronic and complex health needs
- Men’s health
- Sexual health
- Mental health
- Child and youth health
Outside of the clinic, Sophie travels as much as possible, keeps fit and cooks feasts for family and friends. She’s also no stranger to getting lost in a good book.
