Our Coronavirus Plan
We understand that the situation with the fast-evolving coronavirus pandemic can be quite stressful. Our priority during these unprecedented times is to protect all patients from exposure at the clinic.
As such, if you have ANY of the flu-like symptoms listed below, please call us on 8579 6838 before coming to the clinic:
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath (please call 000 if you’re experiencing severe shortness of breath or chest pain)
- Muscle or body aches
- Runny nose
You must notify us if you or anyone you’re with has any of these symptoms – no matter how minor the symptoms may be. This is regardless of whether you’ve recently travelled overseas or not.
Extra Precautions for the Benefit of All
We’re dedicated to treating patients for all respiratory complaints, however, we need to take extra precautions. These include asking patients screening questions upon phone/online bookings and opening a separate waiting room to house anyone with flu-like symptoms.
You’ll be fully informed of your options when you make an appointment.
People who are dishonest with their screening questions and come to the clinic with flu-like symptoms will have their appointment cancelled and will be asked to leave immediately. They’ll also be charged a $100 de-contamination cleaning fee.
Exisitng patients can now choose to undertake appointments over the phone with most of our GPs. Telephone consults are an excellent option for those wanting to limit their public exposure or feel that their flu-like symptoms could put others at risk.
You can book a telephone consult by calling us or booking online.
Testing for Coronavirus
As we await the government to release face masks, gowns and other personal protective equipment (PPE), we can’t conduct in-clinic testing.
High-risk patients must get tested at one of the many assessment centres in Victoria. This includes people with flu-like symptoms who’ve returned from recently been overseas in the past 14 days, healthcare workers and those who’ve been in contact with a confirmed coronavirus patient. The closest testing clinic to us is The Alfred Hospital. Please call them on 9076 2000 before going to their emergency department.
You can use this tool to assess your risk of having coronavirus.
As we work our way through this pandemic, there’ll be out of pocket charges associated with different types of consultations. This enables us to continue providing the highest quality care in a sanitised and safe environment. Please see our fees section for more details.
We Can All Help
We all need to take note of these precautions to ensure that GP clinics stay open to treat the sick.
If just one infected person comes to the clinic, they can potentially infect vulnerable patients and may cause us to close for two weeks. This means hundreds of patients with varying health concerns won’t get treated, while unnecessary pressure is placed upon other GP clinics and the hospital system.
Doctors all over Australia are being pushed to the limit throughout this pandemic, with worse yet to come.
Your help in complying with our coronavirus plan will help us get through these challenging times together.
Our whole clinic is under pressure due to incredible levels of demand, especially our front desk staff. We appreciate your patience and understanding and apologise for any delays.
