A preconception visit is a wonderful way to prepare for a healthy pregnancy.

During this visit, your GP will work with you to develop your personalised pregnancy plan tailored to your needs.

From tracking ovulation to managing your pregnancy and ensuring safe vaccinations, your doctor will be there every step of the way.

Many GPs also have additional training in shared care (pregnancy care), which is a great option for those with low-risk pregnancies.

Shared care includes:

• Check-ups with your regular GP, combined with some visits to your hospital.
• Flexible appointment times, including after-hours and Saturday availability.
• Delivering your baby at your local public maternity hospital.
• Ongoing postnatal care for both you and your baby, with your GP continuing to provide support.
